On January 17, 2024, Air Selangor held a remarkable award and certification ceremony titled “Majlis Penganugerahan dan Penyerahan Sijil” at MBSA Convention Centre, Shah Alam for the Lean Six Sigma Deployment Programme 2.0. The event aimed to celebrate the success of the 37 programme participants in the second batch, recognizing their accomplishments in implementing improvement projects through the Lean Six Sigma methodology.
The morning started at 8 am with stage preparations, a mini-rehearsal, and the arrival of guests who enjoyed a delightful breakfast. The emcee kicked off proceedings by greeting attendees and providing a rundown of the day’s activities.
The ceremony officially commenced at 9 am with the singing of the national and state anthems, a doa recitation, and warm greetings from the emcee. Attendees included major heads of departments, programme champions, participants, and guests. A video presentation elucidating building safety SOP followed, setting the tone for the day.
The Head of the Human Resource Department, Ms. Asrina Binti Shariff, took the stage, emphasizing the industry’s need for change and improvement. She highlighted the establishment of a Centre of Learning, underlining the company’s commitment to promoting internal coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer on top of celebrating the progress of the Lean Six Sigma programme and its success in developing 40 Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt specialists within the company.
Following her speech, the Managing Director of MBizM Group, Dr. Satnam Singh, as the training provider in Lean Six Sigma extended congratulations to all participants for their commendable efforts and high commitment throughout the programme as well as expressing unwavering support for Air Selangor’s Lean Six Sigma journey.
A captivating video montage of the Sigma Deployment Programme 2.0 was shown to share the memorable moments of those involved throughout the programme. Subsequently, the certification ceremony kicked off, starting with the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification (13 participants), then the Green Belt (16 participants) and lastly the Black Belt (8 participants); acknowledging the accomplishments of participants.
The pinnacle of the event arrived with the award ceremony for 13 groups that successfully executed 13 Lean Six Sigma projects related to their fields. Consolation prizes were awarded to 10 groups while the top three, with scores of 87.8%, 88%, and 92.8% received generous cash prizes for their remarkable project execution.
This was then followed by the presentation of the newly-introduced “Outstanding Presenter” Award, along with the “Champion Appreciation” and “Consultant Appreciation” sessions, recognizing their valuable contributions with certifications and plaques.
The ceremony concluded before noon, transitioning seamlessly into a group photoshoot session, capturing the essence of a day filled with achievement, recognition, and camaraderie.
